Why I'm Using the Law of Rhythm to Guide My Business

For those unfamiliar (as I was up until a year ago), there are 12 Universal Laws. You've probably heard of the Law of Attraction, which gets a mention in every manifestation text, and the Law of Vibration (you attract what you put out).

But I'm wholly fascinated by the Law of Rhythm.

"All energy in the Universe is like a pendulum. It ebbs and flows, waxes and wanes, rises and falls, grows and decays," says Jordanna Levin in her book, Make It Happen (a must-read for anyone wanting to learn about themselves and manifestation).

The Law of Rhythm is present throughout nature. Moon cycles, ocean tides, seasons, menstrual cycles – even our breath. In. Out. The most simple, and comforting, cycle there is.

I guess we all know about it to a degree, right? But it was only in the last twelve months that I heard the LOR applied to life and business. We, as humans, go through seasons. I used to label them "off weeks" or "productive months", but really they were just a representation of me working through my seasons.

That's why I created the Rhythm & Words podcast. I wanted to explore rhythm from a personal perspective. How do our rhythms change as we navigate our twenties? What affects our rhythms? Can we champion them?

And whilst I still don't have all the answers, I do know this: our rhythm is never set in stone. It is constantly flowing, remoulding, collapsing, simmering, growing. There's no guarantee that once you're in a certain place (whether high or low), that you'll stay there. That's not how the Law of Rhythm works.

I share this with you today as I feel like I'm back in a creative cycle of my own personal rhythm. After months of recuperating, reflecting and sitting with my shit, I'm feeling inspired and aligned once again. It's wonderful. It's not going to last forever, and that's okay. Instead of dreading the "drop", I'm going to focus on getting as much done as I mindfully can, and when the time comes, I'll welcome hibernation with open arms.

So wherever you are in your rhythm, whether that be in business, creativity, relationships, or self-work, I hope you take solace from this letter knowing that nothing is permanent. We cannot stop our rhythm from moving, but we can control how we view it. Hopefully with a little gratitude and peace, because every season is necessary to create balance.

Love, Viv
